Our Weekend: How Danny Met Darth Vader

On our way to visit Grandma this weekend, we passed the city park. Usually we’ll see people walking the trail, kids playing on the playground or shooting hoops. Well, not this Saturday. The park was lined with rows of old cars, shiny-new Camaros, people with cameras and dogs trotting around!  Usually you can’t take your dogs to the city park.

But, an exception was made for this year’s Rollin’ Thru the Park!

I knew Danny was itching to get out and walk around.  We visited with Grandma and came back towards the park.  I couldn’t look at Danny lust after that place and just take him home — we, at least, needed to stop and look around.  We got out, started walking towards the crowd and realized, “Oh, shit!  We didn’t bring the camera!”  So, we u-turned it back to the car, drove home and decided to take Stewie back with us.  We also realized that the park is less than a mile from our house and we could use a walk there.  Gettin’ exercise and havin’ fun – you can’t beat it!

We headed for the park, Stewie soaking up the Mississippi sun and milking the fact that he was the only dog we took on our walk.

Fun fact: Stewie escapes our backyard almost weekly and he usually ends up near the park. I’m pretty sure he has friends over there.

See what I mean?  There’s some familiarity there.

We got to the park:

There were tons of cars.  There were people sitting in lawn chairs.  There were merchants.  There were storm troopers.

Then, there was Darth Vader.  Just casually walking around the Pearl City Park .  Danny freaked out, threw the camera at me and ran towards Anakin.

He’s playing it cool for the picture, but he was giddy.

It was so much fun — and free!  They were tempting me with cotton candy and boiled peanuts, but I successfully passed it up.  It was a fantastic weekend.

As I was working on this post Monday evening, I noticed that our ferret, Annie’s Boobs, had passed away.  It saddens us to see him go, but we loved having him around.

Rest in peace, A.B.

Excellent blog as usual! How did AB die?? I’m so sorry to hear that! My bunny died last week for some reason. She was fine in the morning and then passed that afternoon. I was crushed.

Not sure if you’re talking about Danny or DV, either way, thanks for stopping by!
