Wednesday, we had a blast!
We got a late start, but had an eventful day.
After having breakfast at Dale’s Family Restaurant, we started driving towards Custer. We drove upon a buffalo just hanging out on the road. We got within 3 feet of that thing! I was scared and amazed.
Then we found another buffalo. Dad and Danny wanted to take their chances with this guy. Susan and I stayed in the car.
We stopped to watch the prairie dogs play:
We found a viewing site that had some cool rocks:
We drove through Custer Park:
Aside from my parents, the donkeys are my favorite things here! There weren’t as many this year as I’ve seen before, but we were able to play with them.
We went to see the Crazy Horse Memorial. It was quite interesting. Korczak Ziolkowski began carving in 1947 and, after he died, his family still carries on his work. His wife, Ruth, still lives on the property.
I was losing hope that we would run into a mountain goat, but on our way to Mount Rushmore, we found some!
Then, we found Mount Rushmore and used that time as a photo opportunity.
Then, we went through Keystone, which was empty. I hear it’s booming during Sturgis and/or tourist season.
I’m don’t know what we have planned for today, but I’m sure it will be eventful.
I’ll keep you posted!
