DIY Plant Stand

DIY Plant Stand 2

Last year, we had four plants.  Just enough to get us going and to figure out if we could keep them alive.

DIY Plant Stand 1We succeeded!  They have multiplied since then!  And, we gained the confidence to maintain other types of plants and flowers.  Now, we have two flower beds (constantly adding to the third) and we have about 25 potted plants.

We definitely want to keep those suckers alive to see the spring, so we planned to bring them inside for the winter.  Since I don’t think 25 plants would look fabulous strewn across the floor, we decided to build something that would showcase our lovely plants.

We settled on this design.  I like that it looks like bleachers and we could bring it inside for the winter, but it would also look fantastic outside.

DIY Plant Stand 3We didn’t follow her measurements exactly.  We looked at the scrap wood we already had and built it to what we felt we needed.  We only had to purchase the stringers and two 2x4s, so this stand set us back $35.

Look at this beauty!

However, ours turned out way larger than we expected it would.  Unfortunately, it will not fit through the door.  So, now we’re back to square one on the winter plant stand idea.  We may just build a smaller version of this since we seem to have an endless amount of wood.

But, we now have a gorgeous outdoor plant stand!

Thanks for stopping by!

Just gonna say you could always spread some visiquin (heavy plastic) over ur flowers in the beds pull it tight across the hem and it works like a sun house. If u dont take the other plants in, u could cover them with an old quilt.just tuck it in around the plants.

Thanks for the tip, but if there’s an option to build something, we’re usually going to take that option!

Wow! Your DIY plant stand looks great! I wish all my DIY stuff looked as good as that. So far it has all been a disaster. I have always thrown a sheet on my plants and that worked great. I like that plastic idea though. Good advice! Your plants look super, Lauren!!!

Thanks, Tina! Danny takes good care of our plants. We are very pleased with our plant stand. I still need to get some Mexican Petunias from ya!
